GEO for DeepSeek
The one that checks whether your claims hold up.
DeepSeek is used heavily for research-style questions: people ask it to compare options, explain trade-offs and justify a conclusion. That usage pattern shapes what it rewards — material that states specific, checkable facts tends to survive into the answer, while promotional language tends to get dropped.
In practice this is the platform where content quality shows up most directly. A page that answers the question completely will often be used even if the brand behind it is small; a page full of superlatives usually will not be, no matter how much was spent placing it.
What DeepSeek rewards
Observed by running the same question set across every platform we cover and recording what the answers cite.
Where DeepSeek tends to take material from
Check this before commissioning content: material placed where a platform does not look will not reach its answers, however good it is.
Technical and industry documentation
Standards, official docs and specification-style material carry noticeable weight.
Long-form analysis
Pieces that work through a problem rather than summarise it.
Primary sources over aggregators
Content on the originating site tends to beat a reposted copy.
Four moves that work on DeepSeek
Ordered by cost. The first one is usually free and usually the one that moves the number.
Questions teams ask before they start
Does DeepSeek search the live web?
It depends on the entry point and whether search is switched on. Because it varies, record web-enabled and non-web-enabled runs separately when you measure — averaging them together hides how fast new content actually reaches answers.
Why is my brand mentioned elsewhere but not on DeepSeek?
Usually because the material about the brand is promotional rather than factual. Platforms that weight social proof will still pass it through; DeepSeek tends not to. Rewrite the same material with specific, checkable statements and re-test.
How do we test what DeepSeek says about us?
Ask the questions your customers ask, not questions containing your brand name. Run each at least three times, record whether you are named, in what context, which competitors appear alongside and which domains are cited. Questions that name your brand in the prompt do not measure competition.
Does content length matter here?
Completeness matters; length is only a side effect of it. One page that answers a question in full tends to outperform five partial pieces, because it can be used as a single source. Padding a page to reach a word count does not have the same effect.
Our claims are accurate but get dropped. Why?
Accurate and checkable are not the same thing. 'Industry-leading response times' may be true and still unusable, because nothing in it can be verified. State the condition and the number instead, and the same claim becomes material.
Does citing competitors hurt us here?
Not on this platform. Material that states where a product does not fit is treated as more usable than material that does not, because a reasoning-style answer needs both sides. What does damage a page is an unsupported comparative claim.
How soon does new content show up?
In web-enabled runs, usually within days of the page being crawlable. In non-web-enabled runs, changes follow model releases and cannot be scheduled. This is why the two must be recorded separately rather than averaged.
