Definition
An authoritative source is one a model treats as carrying weight: outlets with a real editorial process, encyclopedia entries, official registries and standards bodies. Authority here is behavioural — it is whatever models actually cite.
Why it matters
Which sources count as authoritative differs by platform and by category. The reliable way to find out is to record the domains cited in your own test answers rather than working from a generic media list.
